Alright, I finally got my cheapest long pimple rubber and it was about $6 from double happiness. I will be honest it is a long pimple with about a 2mm hard feeling sponge that stank. It felt pretty grippy for pips, and I stuck it on my all round grubba with a very old f&^%$ up tenergy 05 on the other side.
Of course I am a twiddler as my backhand is probably better than my forehand with inverted but with the pips I still think my backhand is better.
The difference between my backhand and forehand with long pimples is that on my backhand I can still come in with a super hard fast punch, whereas on forehand I am more carefull and waiting.
How did I go? I think I played just a notch better with Ed and also took the first two games off Vincent the higher level player Belgium player I haven't played for a month or so. He won the first game but after that I didn't lose more than 6 games.
I honestly didn''t try in the next match after taking a break and swapping partners as I don't know I just sometimes want the player to be happy. After alternating again I sensed he was unhappy I didn't try so tried and he won the match again.
So we levelled to be fair at matches each and he wanted one more game before he left and I took it convincingly.
This is how I gauge how I play with a rubber. I twiddle and alternate hard, I try to win with attack shots roughly once on forehand and then once on backhand and try to predict which side they will go to so that I can attack to win. If I miss guess I chop, block to keep in it.
I'd like to know Ed's thoughts here.

Todays play
It was good to see you after a short while John. The thing with pimples is that I find the chops fairly straight forward and you either lift it over with topspin or shove it back with a push but when you get these tricky little numbers with no spin and side spin it kind of fries your brain and then you lose confidence. I've seen the pros do it too. Anyway, you have to learn to deal with all styles and that is table tennis.
I had a great few days in Bangkok. The National Sports Facility is my favourite place to play. It has good lighting, tables, and flooring, which is the proper red stuff. The only drawback is that it is hotter than hell. You have to use the towel every few shots.
I have three new bats to try tomorrow. Tie Yana W/Tenergy 64. Kasumi Basic W/Tenergy 05. Wang Nan Hurricane W/Tibhar Genius. Can't wait.
Tie Yana won her singles today in Qatar so I can sleep easy tonight.
Ed.
Same
same like me but i don't use pis my backhand is better than my forehand and i found out that
i play better with the penhold instead of shakehand .
penhold vs shakehand
I joke around sometimes and use penhold or chinese grip with my normal blades.
My forehand usually is pretty awesome if I don't miss by miles, but my backhand misses always.

LP with 2mm sponge? Why bother!
To get the real experience you need to play 0X if blocking and hitting at the table. A very thin sponge if chopping and hitting.
Is your LP C8?
If you really want to chop then a thin Reflectoid is awesome. I find it much harder to lift chopped balls that come from inverted rubbers because they are spinnier than those chopped with LP. In addition you can hit and put top spin on the ball with your BH but if you twiddle you always have the option of using the FH rubber.
For LP play I like 755 0X. Talon and Pogo are better for spin reversal but I can hit and almost loop with 755 0X.
Lose the sponge and play 0X.
cheapest pimples
Why bother with pips at all really.. but as I said the reason I use this one is price, I asked Ed to buy me the cheapest in store and he bought it for me. Thanks Ed! He bought as a present in the end for playing him so much. :)
They are different to ox thats for sure and when blocking they produce a dead ball, kill the speed mostly with only a tiny bit of reversal. I like them as when I chop my chops are not heavy backspin most the time which are still hard to negotiate how much to loop on. Most the misses were looped past my head or off the table by some way as a result.
Blocking is easy at the table against slow to medium balls, it is the really fast loops which are hard to block as they dig in and block straight into the air. I think the pips bend and catch the spin too much, oh well will have to step back more for those.

dhs c8 1.2mm red
The hardest shot as I remember, and got reminded again yesterday with this dhs c8 1.2mm red - is when I get a slow no spin ball. I have to just try my hardest to ping pong plonk it back as low as possible.
My chops are improving although I don't get many chances for it still.
Had a high win ratio as usual yesterday, I did record but will not post it as they are the ugliest matches you will ever see. I don't win anything spectacular, just boring pushes and blocks with the pips. The shots that looked worth watching were with inverted so everyone has already seen that.

Back hand roll
When playing with LP and you get a no spin ball then you can bump it back and it will wobble and possibly float off the end of the table. You need to be careful when bumping no spin balls back because they are hard to control this way. You can also put spin on the ball to stabilize it. From what I have seen you have a very good BH loop. You need to hit no spin balls with top spin. The ball won't wobble then but it will go where you hit it. I find that hitting with top spin is very effective when playing with LP. This is why I like 755 0X, I can hit with top spin. The C8 with 1.2mm sponge should be able to hit well.
Try putting that BH of your to work and top spin as well as chop. You opponents will go nuts.
roll with it
Didn't enjoy playing that much yesterday with it. I don't want to ruin my game, anyway next few weeks I'm super busy, no time for TT.

30 pips broken off in a month
Do not buy c8 table tennis long pimples by dhs because your bat will be illegal in a day and unplayable in a month!
