This is my dream blade, believe it or not. The way I see it, is that the rubber is the most important thing, and above all, is to improve your technique. Ma Long could play a wicked game with the Adoy type. You did too!
If Kasumi Ishikawa has had some input into the design of this blade, well, that's good enough for me. I just wish it had a pink handle though.
DHS 3* balls are 210 bt for 12 so i will get some of them.
Just watched Wang Hao beat Xu Xin in the Pro Tour Finals in London. Don't really like the penhold thing though.

The top veneer of the blade
The top veneer of the blade looks like koto I think. Well atleast looks like the same as timo boll spirit and alc blades. So it will have a crisp sharp high pitched initial feel and then if it's 5 ply quite stiff compared to a 3 ply...
You are right about the rubbers in my opinion being more important. Hope you enjoy the tenergy 05.
I'd like you to get Omega 4 Pro and Europe for me. One black and one red. Thanks in the maximum thickness possible.
I enjoyed playing the crappy addoy bat too. It was easy to chop and higher balls I could drive smash nicely. You missed my shots and serves because you think I still can spin the ball when you see how much action I do. If I played with the bat all the time I wouldn't do the action, I'd just hit forward more and you'd adapt.
I don't watch Ittf because I don't like the quality of the video or server. I am happy waiting for youtube HD uploads in hd which I eventually post on tabletennisyoutube.com

Rubbers
John, got your order for the Omega 1V Pro and Omega 1V Europe. I'm confused, which one do you want in red and which one in black? Or do you want one in red and black of each?

Kasumi Basic
Got my Kasumi Basic with Tenery 05 both sides and it looks a beaut. Other than the name it looks a pretty manly blade. Sits nicely in the hand and Cant wait to try it out. I decided to spruce up my Tie Yana with some Tibhar Genius. Same as what Vincent has. They seem very much on the ball at Shanghai Sports in Bangkok [Butterfly Thailand] and did a nice job of fitting the rubbers. I have your XION 1V Euro.
xiom tenergy
You are going to be so spinny in your shots once you adapt. I imagine you will play worse for a while though, as you will find my spin more troublesome but you will start to spin me off with your attacks more when you get used to it.
Welcome ej club, look forward to playing you.
xion is an oil company LOL

tenergy 05 vs tibhar genius
Just did a comparison on my return board and the tenergy gets me at least one, possibly two, levels of spin against the tibhar genius. Kasumi Basic feels softer and more manouverable than the Tie Yana blade.
rubber blade combinations
What is a level of spin?
After trying the brand new genius on your tie yana blade I thought the speed kick was insane, very impressed. But felt it was a bit out of control in relation to spin and control.
The Kasumi basic felt light and easy to hold, from the way you played against me I thought you could loop much better and actually block more consistantly after the first few games.
You also spun me off more than usual.
I know you will stick with the way you have bought the rubbers on the blades but I personally think the tenergy 05 should migrate off the controlled kasumi blade onto the slightly harder and faster tie yana.
It would balance out the speed for both new rubbers you bought

tie yana vs kasumi
Yes, i'm a lucky fellow to own two such super players' blades. Thanks for the comments John and I think that once the rubbers are a bit scuffed I will try switching them.
level of spin
the level of spin I was refering to is on my reurn board. The same swing with the two rubbers was level 15 with the Genius and level 16/17 with Tenergy.
rubber is not everything
I do believe the tenergy is giving you more spin but you also need to give some value to a slower softer blade.
Did you weigh your Kasumi blade? if so how many grams?

today's play
Thanks for the play today John. It's a lot of fun when you have a new blade or rubber. I just love the Tenergy 05 and hit some shots that I was surprised with, at how much spin and dip i could get. The Kasumi blade is easy to change direction from backhand to forehand and so on but with the extra spin does come difficulty controlling your spin.
The Tie Yana is interesting paired with the Tibhar Genius. I like that too, so maybe the perfect partnership will be the Tie Yana with Tenergy 05.
It would appear you didn't like your experiment with the XIOM 1V Euro. Certainly the Tenergy 05 and 25FX seems to suit your topspin game better.
After having tried a handfull of different rubbers it seems as if the Tenergy is more expensive but worth it.
perfect combination is here.
I regret not getting brand new sheets of 25 and 05 when you went. I want to promise myself that I have finally stopped searching.
I think you should change one side of both blades, so you have genius and tenergy 05 on both blades so that you can see the difference of both the blades and rubbers. For now you can't seperate how the rubber or the blade plays. Not just for that but that I found both rubbers troublesome to play against until I got used to them. If you had two different sides in one game you would be harder to play.

today's play
It was just great to have Vincent, Peter and yourself come and play today. Very competitive table tennis but with a really good atmosphere. This is important.
You, John, playing with the Tenergy 05/25 is a goood combination. Wicked looped backhands and forehands that I can only try to block.
As I now have the Tenergy 05 I see it as a super spinny rubber, but although it is good for blocking also, it is very hard to doing anything with the slow spinning loops. They just fly off into space.
Your idea of the Kasumi Basic and the Tie Yana blade with Tenergy 05 and Tibhar Genius is a good one. Then I can judge which is the better racket. I will try it one day soon.

Yea great day that's right, probably ready for a new blog entry too. I felt like I played even better today.
