How do I Transition from Hurricane to Tenergy?

eisenhower's picture

So Today at my tournament my rubber peeled off mid game. I have already been very dissatisfied with my equipment and this was the last straw. I recently tried out Tenergy 05 and 64 on a andro off+ blade and I loved it!!! The thing had so many gears and I felt my game could really take a turn for the better.

My current equipment:
DHS Hurricane King Blade
DHS Hurricane 3 (FH)
DHS Hurricane 2 (BH)

Fun equipment on the side:
Dawei blade
Palio on both sides ( This rubber is fun but I feel that the spounge maxes out and makes a very loud tonk noise against the blade. Maybe I'm just to aggressive.. )

I am looking at getting a Tenergy 05 (FH) and Tenergy 64 (BH).

I am not sure whether to get the FX versions of both of the rubbers. In addition, I have NO IDEA what blade is good for me. I have read a lot that the micheal maze blade is great but the Timo Boll Spirit ( TBS ) is a little bit faster (equally great).

My playing style is a very aggressive top spin and push. My loop was getting better until my rubber (FH) started loosing tackyness. To prove this my BH actually got better b/c it didn't lose to much of its tackyness.

I need help and any comments and suggestions are highly welcome!!!! Please help!

Right off if you want to get something like hurricane in the Butterfly range then I would say Spin Art is right. But I have no idea if you want to stay with that style of rubber or not.

This is the same for your racket. You have obviously read tenergy 05 and 64 reviews on various blades and Michael Maze or Timo Boll spirit are wise choices with tenergy 05 on fh and tenergy 64 backhand.

It will take a while to adapt fully moving from all wood and hard tacky in this case.

note: I altered your title because it wasn't a question.

True?

I was trolling the Butterfly page and for some reason the M. Maze blade is a off where the TBS blade is a OFF+. Is this really the case or just a marketing thing? Also, I can't decide between flared or Straight. Is these blades a bit thinner?

What have you used in the past?

flared is thinner

Michael Maze is Limba and softer slower spinnier top veneer that is all the difference. The straight is thicker and sits full in the hand.

Personal preference Michael prefers straight.

I have tried too many to list, many of the newest expensive butterfly blades all the way through to older cheaper ones. The world of top 10 top 100 and more love alc arylate carbon.

Lastly, Is the TBS ALC

Lastly,

Is the TBS ALC similiar in thickness to the M. Maze? so straight is about the same for both blades?

Just so I get my facts straight, T. Boll uses straight as well right? I would he uses his backhand to much to like flare. =)

boll maze

off the top of my head I can tell you if they were any different, from memory there is no difference bar top veneer.

T05 will takes some time to adjust too

If you are an experience TT player it will take less time but T05 requires a fine touch close the table. You can do some pretty fast and spinny shots with just your wrist. Other rubbers require a bigger motion. When in pushing contests you need to be very careful and hit the ball with more extreme angles to compensate for incoming spin. Some times I have the paddle almost flat when pushing back a heavy back spin push because the back spin will cause the ball to jump back over the net. The trick is to keep the ball low because the rubber is springy.

I doubt there will be any problems adjusting to the looping. You will find that easy. You can close the paddle a little more with T05.
