After playing with my tenergy 05 and c8 LP on an allround blade as you can see in this video, I had a quick couple of games with my normal rubbers on the Telion. I just love the telion and it is very unique in my mind. So much bounce and a beautiful resonance, it is powerful to say the least but doesn't feel hard dead like carbon.
I stuck my t05 and LP on it and sure I knew it would be faster and yes insanely. Blocking shorter on the table sometimes hard, but the 05 side really played much better for me with lots more finishing power, similar in LP backhand power slap.
I don't want to just talk rubber here but it is apart of how to play.
My twiddling and all over play is much better than last time I played, it's like I am starting to understand what the pips can and can't do. My greatest weakness still is if I get a high ball with the pips, it shouldn't be but it is. the second worst ball for me is a slow no spin dribble shot where I have to fish it up from below the table. These are only with pips are problem for now.
I I am serious about staying with this set up I want to start up a routine plan to improve my game.
1. Learn which of my normal serves with inverted I can perform exactly the same and keep the ball on the table whilst using the LPs. This will be awesome for quick fire serves where this little time to see the action and react.
2. Last time I played I concentrated on outright flat hitting and blocking to see how much I could do with out screwing up my inverted stroke. I am very happy with the pips ability to block attack shots it returns a dead ball often a woblle watching the label near the net. Very happy with this.
3. I am not sure what to do with my finger at times, it feels kind of wrong as it sits on the LP, not comfortable to grip for some reason for now.
4. What I am enjoying the most is developing my windshield wiper shots. Index finger up the middle thumb back as well - I can do some weird arse shots from the opposite side, ie on my backhand side hit it with the inverted when the inverted is on my forehand side. (sorry confusing) just think windshield wiper. This mode kicks in times of blocking near the table, while waiting to go into normal twiddle mode again.
Overall I am much happier playing with combination style at the moment even though ED is hating it, he has never looked so frustrated playing. :)

well done
John. Not got too much to add other than you played well today and it is a challenge to get the hang of your new game. Although my blocking/counter-attacking game is best against inverted attackers I did enjoy the last two sessions and hopefully when I go to Bangkok the guys there, by comparison, might seem a lot easier to handle. Glad to hear you are enjoying the Nittaku Telion blade. Ed.
pushing most dangerous
I didn't include the majority of the points of that day which came from alternating heavy pushes with the pips and the tenergy 05, I thought would show no respect to my great table tennis partner, Ed.
